Please do not misunderstand my comment. I agree wholeheartedly that the U.S. military should exclusively use USA engineered, designed, and manufactured equipment.

Might want to re-think that Ford purchase.

When my water pump went out on my Taurus a number of years ago — and far too early in the car's life — it cost me over $950.00 to get it replaced and installed.

IMO, the integrated engineering of Fords is ludicrous...and carries an abominable price tag.

My Buick Le Sabre drives like a Lexus — and all I ever do is put in fuel and change the oil — 40K later.
And, one minor tune-up — for plugs at 25K.

Works for me. *S*

I bought my wife a nice new car in January - a Toyota. I have purchased GM vehicles for 30 years and always felt good about it. I felt like I was doing my little part to help my country and my fellow Americans. But lately, GM products have really become inferior and the Unions have shown absolutely no limit to their greed. They no longer deserve my loyalty or support. GM left me - I didn’t leave them.

BTW my wife’s Toyota is the most amazing car I have ever owned. I don’t expect to ever buy an American made car again. Too bad.

My current vehicles are from Hiroshima

Mine too :) Did you know the first Mazda factory was saved by a hill when the A-bomb exploded?

I went though college on a General Motors scholarship - felt enough loyalty to the company to continue to buy GM cars even when they looked like crap and drove about the same - but never again after this governmental hijacking....

Mine did too!

But that doesn’t mean that I am going to support a bunch of union thugs with my money (since my tax dollars are already involuntarily supporting them)!

Someone should have fired the union boss instead of the CEO of GM!

BTW, I don’t even recognize my country any longer! It is turning into a bankrupt third world country under our noses.

Kind of tough to boycott since I bought my last GM product in 1986. Last American vehicle in 1993.

I'd rather any profits go to Japan than to Obama.

Absolutely. Unions are nothing but fundraisers for the Democrat party. Every union made automobile you buy, funds Obama's re-election campaign.

Yea, well that’s the difference between you and me.

I & mine fought & died for & support Americans & America and you don’t.

THe last new GM I bought was in 1999. I have purchased 2 Toyota’s since then.

Don’t give me the crap about “American Built,” as 79% of one toyota vehicle was manufactured here in the US, and a similar percentage of the other was as well.

To support GM any longer is to support STATE OWNED industry. See, that’s called SOCIALISM. Whether it’s the nationalist brand of Socialism (Fascism) or the internationalist brand (Communism) it really doesn’t matter much — they both take us to the same place.

IF I consider an “American made” car in the future, it will be a Ford. Like their Founder Henry Ford, who refused government “help” in the Great Depression, the board and CEO of present day Ford said “no thanks” to a Washington Bailout. They MIGHT survive — GM, Chrysler — they are doomed.

WRONG!

I support America and Americans just not union thugs (especially when I don’t have any say in the matter) that are helping to destroy it!

There is a difference.

I appreciate your patriotism, but favoring products just because they are American made is affirmative action and will do nothing to improve their quality. We achieved prosperity and excellence precisely because of our freedoms - the freedom to choose and letting the best win.

Even before this fiasco, I had decided to never buy another GM product because of the union involvement and the stupidity of the GM management to agree to such overblown contracts. I have a GM truck which I bought 5 years ago which is my only transportation but I would drive the damn thing off “the levy” if I thought it would kill the Obama music.

What car is being made in China and sold here?

Parts of every car.

And what companies are making cars in Mexico for sale here?

link

As far as my “kid” working at a factory with no OSHA, yes.

No kidding.

If you look at the rate of death and injury on the job before OSHA and after OSHA, you will find that the rate of decline (increase in safety, if you will) DID NOT CHANGE.

So your argument is that OSHA did not improve worker safety? Are you sure?

Should I go on about some of the hyper stupidity of EPA or do you get my point?

I ask again, you would live downstream from a Chinese factory?

Give me a break. If we are going to go by that rule, we might as well not spend a dime during the next four years as it might help the economy during the Obama administration. What an asinine argument.

I choose to support the a company that employs tens of thousands of workers in MI, the home state of my wife. I support a company from which my father-in-law retired.

When did we all get so petty that we refuse to do something that might help a fellow American simply because we do not want to give the appearance that we are supporting a President we do not like. I have news for you, no one is watching what you do. Driving a GM vehicle does not equal supporting Obama.
