Thanks for sharing your story. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I disagree with the Islamic approach to finances. It’s the implication by the PC SacBee that financial responsibility and restraint are somehow exclusive to Sharia (and are missing in Judaism and Christianity, the practice of which the paper would never endorse.

I agree and can see the point you are trying to make.

It again amuses me because a) this has been around for decades in the US and b) despite what many Muslims think, liberals are no friends to Muslims in the US. They are johnny come lately to find out about us because it adds another “victim” against the right, the assumption being that the Bush years were “bad” for Muslims in the US when nothing could be farther from the truth

What the Bush years did for Muslims was finally point out that we need to weed out, isolate and destroy those amongst us who have no intention of living within civilized society.

By every concievable metric the lot of Muslims got better during the Bush years in the United States.

Liberals, newspapers and the media try and portray this as not having occurred and then write articles such as these, which would have been just as relevant during the S&L crises. Its all an effort to create another “victimized” group to be used by the left
