Payback Is A . . .

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, (R-Saks) used a day of his two-week break from his congressional duties in Washington, D.C. to drop in on a few of his constituents at Auburn University Montgomery.

SNIP

Despite President Barack Obama's commitment to bipartisanship, Rogers says Speaker of House Nancy Pelosi (whom he described as "crazy," "mean as a snake" and "Tom DeLay in a skirt") and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid didn't get that memo.

"They don't talk to us," he said. "They've got the vote, and they can do what they want."

Rogers said to be fair Democrats are paying Republicans back for how they were treated when the Republicans controlled Congress.

Being compared to Tom DeLay should be considered a complement, though I doubt that Pelosi will take it that way. She has far more power than DeLay ever had.

That’s cool, we’ll get the rats back in a couple of months. Let’s see how they scream bipartisanship. Oh, and the republicans should never apologize for treating the rats like scum, it’s not like they don’t deserve it.

I completely disagree.

What was so great about Tom DeLay? He used Jessie Jackson tactics to get republicans into cushy jobs, then got caught misusing campaign funds and left his constituents unrepresented which allowed for a worthless democrat to take his seat.

Are you familiar with the campaign finanace charges that were leveled against Tom Delay or are you someone who just accepts at face value what the MSM says when they report on Republicans they don’t like?

Are you an apologist for someone who uses any method to get his way even if it is illegal or unethical just because he is in your party?

so what. You can't articulate what Ronnie Earle accused Delay of doing. And you are apparently unaware of the fact that the case against Delay is still dragging on and has yet to reach trial. Lastly, it is pretty obvious you have no idea why Earle prosecuted Delay in the first place. So maybe you should read the following article and educate yourself.

Repeated calls to Earle were not returned, and an official in the DA’s office with close knowledge of the investigation would not comment on speculation that the prosecution of DeLay was Earle’s retribution for the controversial DeLay-led redistricting that sealed a Republican majority in the Texas Legislature and wound up before the Supreme Court in March 2006.

How about how DeLay used his Jesse Jackson tactics to strongarm anyone in his party to vote his way? He "allowed" them to vote their conscience only if it would not interfere with the outcome. Reps are supposed to be there to vote the will of their constituents - not vote the way Tom Delay and the party want them to vote.

Trips paid for by lobbyists, wife and daughter being "paid" by his political action committees, using illegal means to track down the dems who scattered rather than vote, Jack Abramoff as a good buddy..... the list goes on - and you can't tell me if DeLay was a democrat you would dismiss his list of transgressions.

What a shock -- he did his job as party whip.

And you keep throwing around the word illegal and don't cite anything to support the accusation. The representatives who scattered were Democrats who did so in order to prevent a quorum so that a redrawn district which favored Republicans couldn't be voted on. Why don't you mention that? Kind of an important point don't you think. But if that is your complaint then it would appear what you are really upset about is the success of the Republican party in Texas which is in no small part attributable to Tom Delay.

What I'm saying is using tactics that would garner scorn if he was a democrat doesn't make it ok just because he is a republican.

He illegally used the FAA records to track down those democrats, who, for the record, I thought were lower than pig shit for hiding like they did, but using records he had no business obtaining was not legal and I don't give him a pass just because he was doing something for Republicans.

Go ahead and consider him a great conservative leader if you want, but he cut and ran. Does an innocent man do that?

Tom Delay purposefully redistricted his district from a completely safe district to a marginally safe district so that he could expand the Texas Republican caucus in Congress. If he had been selfish and kept the profile of the district as is, he would have survived the Democrat tsunami in 2006. As it was, he could read the writing on the wall and decided to resign in an attempt to save the seat for the Republican party.

Beyond that, you, once again, talk about a lack of innocence on Delay's part as if he has been convicted of something.

I find this to be amazing and to demonstrate that the MSM still has real power to shape the opinions of people who pay marginal attention to politics. Just for the record, Delay played a principal part in dramatically increasing the number of Republican office-holders in Texas - and the thanks he gets is ill-informed talk that he is some kind of criminal.

And you totally dismiss all of the unethical associations he had - not disputed even if not convicted, and the fact that his wife and daughter were paid as consultants or employees of his PACs, or that Abramoff was his close buddy. Yet you want to extoll his virtues and forget all the harm he did to the reputation of the Republican Party.

Because of his attitude and ethics, we ended up with a do-nothing dem for two years - his methods were no better than some of the liberal scum we have in Washington - I don't give him a pass just because he strongarmed republicans to vote in lock step.

And you totally dismiss all of the unethical associations What does that mean? Are you saying that Delay committed a crime? He was under a microscope for years and the most the Democrats could come up with was the Ronnie Earle indictment. Do you have some secret information that you alone are privy to that shows that Delay has been convicted of a real honest-to-goodness crime. If so, please enlighten me.

As far Delay's family being on the payroll of his PAC - so what? The PAC was privately funded and if the donors didn't like Delay hiring his family - they could stop donating.
