Affirmative Action in the Supreme Court
The Provocateur ^ | 05/03/2009 | Mike Volpe

It appears that there will be discrimination in choosing the next Supreme Court nominee.

Not white. Not male. Not a career judge.

Those were just some of the criteria senators outlined Sunday as they discussed their hopes for the next Supreme Court justice.

With Justice David Souter retiring this summer, Democrats in particular said the vacancy is an opportunity for President Obama to diversify the high court -- not just by choosing a woman or minority justice, but a candidate with a resume that includes something other than years on the bench.

There isn’t a single southerner on the Supreme Court.

I just want the GOP to fight on this. This is a fight that can reveal how radical Obama is. We should have fought harder on Ginsberg and others. We may not win but we can hurt Obama and the left and may force him to choose someone who is more moderate than he would like which would be a victory.

I doubt we could hurt Obama, but we could hurt some some of the senators who vote for Obama's nominee.

How about the “Rev.” Jesse Jackson?
Isn’t he owed for his many years of faithful racist rabble rousing and corporation shakedowns?
In the spirit of Obama’s home state political machine traditions of blackmail, corruption, etc.

Or Ayers?
Or Obama’s church minister?
Or Chavez, Castro, Ortega, Mugabe or other deserving, qualified person?

Is there a single non-Ivy Leaguer on the court? This nation would be far better off with fewer Ivy Leaguers in high government positions of every type.

Obama’s first choice will be a smokescreen.... The first candidate will be a lightning rod for conservative criticisim and will be way too liberal for even many Dems and this candidate will be withdrawn.

Obamas second nominee will be the one he wants on the bench.

Here is my equisitely politically correct EPC suggestion for the next Supreme Court Justice: She needs to be a Korean-American trisexual who is married to Latina Wiccan. ;<}

Who needs a Supreme Court? Obama’s got it all under control.

Chill out, folks.

Absolutely nothing could be worse that Souter...or make much of a difference. The more outrageous, the more we have to laugh at when his/her concurring opinions come down.

What you have to watch for is the retirement of a conservative justice. THAT will be a disaster.

No you need to get fired up. We can not afford to roll over and play dead. This is an opportunity to make distinction between what we offer and what they offer. Even if it is to highlight the radical rulings of the justice people need to know and given what the left has down to Conservative justices we are obligated to not Chill out. It is by chilling out that the left has made so much progress in their goals of total domination of this country.

Yes we can hurt him exactly as you point out. If we highlight the how crazy and out-there his nominee is and keep it in the news and keep every last Republican vote in against them we can label him and and those that vote for the nominee as radicals out of the mainstream. Some battles aren’t about winning outright, its about winning on the peripheral. We should take note of the strategy of the left which as won not by winning every battle but simply never stopping the attack.

I’m still waiting for someone to call for a conservitive march on Washington for July 4. Obambi thinks he won this election by a landslide and recieved a mandate.

I say its time we marched on Washington and told him, hell no.

Imagine a Supremes nominee being confirmed without a single Republican vote. Only one party to blame.

Won’t stop it from happening, but it would be a worthwhile gesture, JMHO.
