I can't find any garlic powder that is not produced in China, whether it's a name brand, or generic brand. I'm willing to order it. Has anyone found any that is not produced in China?

They have H2O.

Trader Joe’s has a policy of no food from China. Whether they have been able to fully implement it, I don’t know, but I think you can see by the labels.

Don’t be fooled by the organic label. The food could still come from China and be organic. Earthfare had some Organic Chamomile tea. In very small print, on the side of the box, it said it was from China.

Not sure if Korea, Thailand or Mexico is any better though.

If you care about getting food not produced in China, as much as I do, please call the stores.

All of the seasonings we use come from them.

Try www.badiaspices.com. They list a Maimi address and its marked “packed in USA” They are usually in the Mexican Food section, so it might come from messico.

As an aside, if you like garlic, try elephant garlic. Those are the great big bulbs. It is not as strong as cooking garlic, about as strong as purple onion. You can use a potato peeler to shave it onto a green salad. But if you cook it, it tastes like garlicky potato.

The biggest irony is that elephant garlic is actually a variety of leek, not a true garlic.

I just checked mine - it’s “packaged” in the USA, but not made in the USA. It doesn’t say where it was made. (McCormack)

I am shocked by all this. I had no idea! I thought garlic grew like crazy in California and Florida even. Well the Chinese better keep their mud hooks off my A1 Sauce and Heinz Catsup, that's all I have to say.

I've been ordering from this company for a long time. They give you the origin of their products. I checked and they have California garlic powder as well as from China and other garlic products. Their prices are always lower but you usually have to order a larger quantity (1/4 to 1 pound) rather than a 3 oz. jar. Also, a minimum $30 order.

Another reason to not buy from China, at least as much as possible:

Start calling the grocery stores - I think they’ll listen to us if we nip it in the bud.

I can hardly find Garlic that isn’t from China. The other day my grocery had frozen Okra from China. I complained. Not that it did any good, but I felt better.

Check that fine print folks, the produce dept is full of Chinese and Mexican food. Well, the whole store is full of it. And if it has a USA address close to the border, you can bet it wasn’t grown here.

Sounds good. Do you know which of their products are produced in the U.S.A.?
