Gibbs was born in Auburn, Alabama on March 29, 1971.[5] His parents, Robert and Nancy Gibbs, worked in the Auburn University library system and involved their son in politics at an early age.[6] Nancy Gibbs would take Robert, then known as “Bobby,” to local League of Women Voters meetings rather than hire a babysitter, and involved him in “voter re-identification” work at the county courthouse.[7] Gibbs attended Auburn City Schools and Auburn High School.[5] At Auburn High, Gibbs played saxophone in the Auburn High School Band, goalkeeper on the Tigers’ soccer team, and participated on the school’s debate squad. Gibbs graduated from Auburn High in 1989,[8] in the same class as novelist Ace Atkins and mathematician and LEGO artist Eric Harshbarger.

In reality, it doesn’t matter who has that job. All of them will have to lie to the press everyday. That gets exhausting.

He is perfect, in him is our only transparency. He stumbles so much on the lies, and he is the only one to shed light on the lies. He/they protesteth to much, and the press now know they are all a JOKE.

...third-place in the 1977 southwest Alabama regional high school debate competition.

And what the hell is wrong with third place?

After all, there were 40 of us in the class.

.

.

Oh, you said southwest...I thought you said southeast.

Never mind.

All partisanship/politics aside, Gibbs has to be the worst press secretary I’ve seen in a long time. He’s easily rattled, can’t think on his feet, and looks a lot like Randy Quaid’s character in Parents:

(uh, it’s a horror movie, btw)

“As a former High School Debate team member, I resent the comparison on behalf of reasoned speakers everywhere.”

I’m from north Alabama. There IS no such thing as a reasoned speaker from SW Alabama . . . debate team or not. I’m being facetious, but it was an interesting and somewhat pertinent reference to a geographical area. Sounds like he is familiar with the area to make a comment like that.

To Gibbs defense, every time he's in front of the media he is forced to tell some of the most outrageous boldfaced lies to back up his stooge of a President. I mean, Gibbs is just a puppet and a horrible liar. He's pretty much Baghdad Bob-you knew he didn't believe what he was saying but he had a gun to his head making him move his mouth.

Gibbs is truly representative of what he is representing. His responses are the best he can do with what he has functioning behind him. Given what he has to work with, he's doing the best he can. I'd quit, and right now if I was him. Personally, I feel sorry for the guy.

Remember Didi Myers who was Clinton's press secretary? Remember that shortly after she left the position, she was picked up on a DUI? Look what she was representing! Look what Gibbs is representing. Placed in that position, could you do any better that Gibbs, given what you had to defend? He's done an admirable job so far, but he's standing on a row of dominos. He can't win, and the longer he stays, the more damage he does to his name and career. Watching him fumble at the hands of Chip and Helen Thomas, I truly felt sorry for him. I know this doesn't gel with what I felt in the past, but I wish him well. What I just saw convinces me he is about to bail.

Gotta tell you, I honestly made up the Alabama part. I had no idea he was actually from Alabama and certainly have no idea about how the SW Alabamans differ from the rest of you. Lucky (kinda scary, lucky) guess.

From the White House’s pov, Gibbs a winner. He distributes no info, eats media bandwidth, and most of what he says distracts or disinforms. Meanwhile Obama continues his plan unmolested by the press...

You got that right. As one FReeper posted----Obama and Rahm must convulse with laughter watching Gibbs' amateurish performances.

Goofy Gibbs is an improbable WH Press Secy......his very appearance is contrived.....to make us all think he's just a goofy nerd, just a little stupid, just a guy who "forgets", who "doesn't know," who "wasn't told."

Many observers---even the MSM---wonder how Gibbs got such a high-profile job. He is certainly the worst communicator seen in public office. When the Air Force One flyover issue blew up in the WH's face, Goofy Gibbs first smirked, and bobbed and weaved, and did his Barbarino impersonation-----"What?" "Where?" saying he "did not know everything that goes on in the WH."

When that didn't work, when the blivet hit the fan, Gibbs actually made a coherent statement....THAT HE READ OFF A PIECE OF PAPER. That was done to make sure Gibber did not screwup the Obamaton agit-prop they were forced to invent to cover their sorry *****.

Obfuscation is the name of the con game....the Obamatons have a dedicated agenda to keep the citizens in the dark. Insipid freewheeling fools now run our country---thinking they can say or do anything they want without explanation---their unmitigated contempt for Americans, and for our democracy, is astounding.

I AM A MORON NEXT QUESTION http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff79/freebirdny/gibbs1-1.jpg?t=1245452783////
