I was not talking about Reagan as a man (I don’t think a mediocre actor is gonna solve our problems this time), but I was talking about Reagan’s qualities of genuine humor in the most serious situations (not Obama’s staged stand up)that humanized and gave the nation a sense of optimism, and his attitude of not taking any bs that instilled fear in the enemy. These are ideal qualities for a president, especially the latter.

When Reagan was inaugurated, the Iran Hostage Crisis ended. Why? Cause they knew they were dealing with somebody as crazy as they were! They knew he probably would have said, “Fire up the bombers.”

He had the balls to walk out of Reykjavik instead of meeting Soviet demands to stop Star Wars. That’s who we need in office!

But Reagan’s qualities were still those of 30 years ago. It’s a different world now. And one of the constant hits on the GOP is that we’re always living in the past, and our hunt for the next Reagan is hurting us.

There were a lot of reasons the Iran Hostage Crisis ended when it did, and there’s a good chance that some of them do not compliment Reagan’s character though that part of the story is still a little foggy.

We don’t have a Soviet style enemy currently. Yet another reason why we shouldn’t be looking for the next Reagan, yes he was great for winning the Cold War against an enemy with a face and some capacity for logic and reason. You can’t stare down a faceless enemy that worships blood though.
