A few years ago, I attended a seminar put on by a GE subsidiary. Walter Cronkite was the premier speaker. He was a liberals’ liberal. His most striking stance was advocacy for creation of a Department of Peace in Washington. I’m not sure, but I believe he wanted to rename the Defense Department. It was either that or create a whole new department dedicated to world peace (whirled peas?) I kid you not.
