Don't know about the Spiritual but am very certain of the Moral

That's the problem, we've lost sight of our spiritual moorings, that's why our country's being stolen right from under us and we have no answers (other than Roy Masters) what to do about it.

John Adams: "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other"-- October 11, 1798

"Nothing is more important for the public wealth than to form and train youth in wisdom and virtue. Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom." - Benjamin Franklin

A general dissolution of the principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy.... While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.... If virtue and knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslaved. This will be their great security..- Samuel Adams

Sorry for the delay in my response.

I agree that Spirituality is a very, very important aspect of Morality but not necessarily required to imbue Morality in Society. Granted, Spirituality/Religion provides a sound and continuous framework for the existence of Morality but it can be acquired by other means as well.

The quote by Adams about having to “contend with human passions unbridled by morality and religion.” is right on the mark as far as it goes but I think Morality can exist without formal, doctrinaire Religion although it is certainly much less likely.
