we're desperate. I keep scanning the horizon for another Ronald Maximus who can bring us together. Ain't nobody there.
The 'republican brand' has been going down hill since GHWB occupied the Oval Office. That is a 20-year slide.
You are right -- there ain't nobody on the horizon to rally behind. Many tried to push Thompson (McCain-lite) in 08, but the most he got was 1 (IIRC) delegate vote before dropping out.
Most of the names being tossed against the wall just don't have the 'umph' to go up against Obama, especially if Obama sees some moderate success prior to the '12 election. Like Clinton, it will take more the average GOP nominee to defeat Obama. Another Dole or McCain or Gingrich or Huckabee or Romney, etc., just doesn't have that 'umph' that will be needed.
Reality bites.

We need somebody who can make an articulate case for capitalism, as did Ronald Maximus.
Where is that conservative? (Other than an academic or Rush Limbaugh)

NONSENSE
When, in the first year of a Democrat’s term, have Republicans EVER been sure of who the next GOP nominee would be?
You are far too negative.
