Before leaving for his vacation on Martha's Vineyard, Barack Obama said the next big item on his legislative agenda -- well, after health care and cap-and-trade and maybe labor's bill to effectively abolish secret ballots in union elections -- was immigration reform. What he has in mind, apparently, is something like the comprehensive immigration bills that foundered in the House in 2006 and in the Senate in 2007. These featured guest-worker and enforcement provisions, as well as a path to legalization.

There already is a path to legalization. There always has been.

Also from the SEIU bylaws.

Where we are not divided by forces of discrimination based on race, creed, color, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship status, marital status, ancestry, age or disability.

The big lesson from the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is that if you pass a big law to appeal to a demographic minority, then 90% of that minority will vote for the party of whomever was president in 1964, for decades to come.

If the Democrats make all the illegal aliens US citizes, then tens of millions of people will register to vote Democrat.

Obama knows this. Pelosi knows this. Reid knows this. And it doesn't matter how unpopular it is with the people. The next election cycle becomes a gimme for the Democrats based on the new voter bloc.

The next generation will have no reason to look for work. Why labor to support the democrat base? It isn't worth it.

“Comprehensive” reform is just a way of camouflaging amnesty and promoting the creation of a new Democrat voting bloc. Why idiot ‘Pubbies go along with it, I will never understand. The “enforcement” provisions of any immigration “reform” bills are meant to be ignored.

The only real, logical process is to enact immigration reform one step a at time. First secure the borders. See how that works out and determine the impact. The begin work on the next, as yet undetermined, step. Could be internal enforcement, could be guest workers, could be amnesty. But do it one step at at time.

Republican wimps are responsible for not building the Fence and for not halting illegal immigration.

Remember to mention this to your Republican representatives.

It is NOT racist to send illegal aliens back home. Hoover, Truman and Eisenhower did it. Eisenhower even sent legal Mexicans home. They did it for the returning Soldiers so that jobs would be available. But if you have a president who is Anti-Military, why should he care.
