Office wear

Most of us spend more time in offices other than anywhere else; therefore we should be more careful when buying a new office clothes item. Let’s talk about the office suit in details.

1. Fabric

Fabric is a very crucial when choosing your office wear. For instance, straight woollen skirt will help you to be in productive mood, rather than same skirt from satin. Try to buy less synthetics clothes for your corporate wear, especially fabrics that can be easily wrinkled.

2. Shape

The most acceptable “shapes“ for the office wear are rectangular, reverse triangle and A - line.

3. Colours

The best colours are grey, dark-grey, brown, black, navy, and greyish-green. In the summer there could be light colours like cream, light grey or beige. Some designers believe that bright colours are also good for the office wear, however it’s better not to use them.

4. Accessories

It’s a very important to wear accessories with your business suit such as belt, jewellery, watch and bags. They’ll give a bit of life to your serious look.

Women do NOT need a corporate "uniform."

The picture in the entry seems to illustrate clothes that is just a slightly feminized version of a man's suit. Bleagh!

I am a man, and the offices I have worked in function best when women are not treated like the men folk, who, for the most part either don't care (and are somewhat relieved) if there is an easily followed unofficial dress code or will dress as slovenly as they can get away with.

Women want to wear clothes that flatter them, or at least don't emphasize problem areas, and colors that suit them. Not all of them want to rely on "accessories" to make their statement. I suppose some things might be over the top, and certainly revealing get-ups aren't suitable for the office, but if a woman wants to wear a floral print satin dress, it doesn't necessarily make her less productive. It might even make the office cheerier. Healthy men like to have women around who don't dress like Sigourney Weaver in Aliens, or a calcified school marm.

That’s how I dress every day. Except I give myself a dress down day on Friday. I like to look professional. And I am not some calcified school marm.

The other day I was in a Verizon store selecting a new phone. The lady who waited on my daughters and me was wearing a pair of white crop pants. Every time she went scurrying around the store to show us one more gadget we could buy with our phones, I tried to figure out if she had underpants or a thong under those see-through pants. Verizon should have a dress code, and women should be wearing khaki pants or black pants, not white pants made out of cotton sheeting on 50-something women. Very Tasteless!!

If I ran an office, all my women would have to be tall, raven haired beauties. The attire would be black leather mini skirts, fishnets, 5 inch heels and white silk tops.
Sigh.....

I usually go with a Skort unless it’s casual Friday, then the Jetson’s themed codpiece comes out.
