Funny but true. On a more series note; a bolt action .22 rifle for collecting game that can be hushed up a bit.

...and then some.
I own two of them right now, or I would if I hadn;t gotten rid of ALL mu guns.
They’re a HOOT to shoot at night. Flames shoot out of them from every crevice.

Agree on the 22 rifle. That and just a 4X see through scope would take care a the small stuff.

I have an M44 Mosin carbine that is a tack driver at 200 yards with the bayonet extended (shoots high and right with it folded). It’s heavy enough that the recoil really isn’t bad, it’s better than hubbys 308 deer rifle that is a lot lighter.
It’s funny - any time I show it to a couple visiting the house for dinner the man always turns and pokes his spouse with the bayonet (even those trained in gun safety).
It says something about relationships, right there LOL.

I don’t see how the AK is “controversial”.
Nothing particularly bad about it, and a lot good.
Just not the best for certain applications, but perfectly good for home defense.

I’d add a .50 cal black powder muzzleloader, with a medium twist barrel to handle both ball and Minie bullets. Maybe not the best thing for a firefight, but you learn to make the first shot count.
To: Maverick68
imo, the sks is the 'better' rifle in the shooter dept, but the feeding devices are a bit slower [and $$$] than the ak...
