Well, yes, there was a lot of confusion that day and the FAA and air traffic controlers were at its epicenter in many ways. No suprise that they made some mistakes, is there?

No, but getting the anti-American conspiracy theorists to understand that is difficult.

The fact that the Air Traffic Control Center reported Flight 77 as a CRASH could perhaps be a CLEAR, undeniable explanation of why fighter jets did not intercept it. There was nothing to intercept. It was believed to be smashed into the ground.

So perhaps this could be clear enough for the doubts to understand.

While this is a little ‘out there’ for an FR thread, this is standard fare for the Left.

They are nuts and live on this stuff.

That day, the nearest fighter units that could have responded were the D.C. Air Guard at Andrews - but there were no fighters armed for response. The first fighter units that COULD arm and take air patrol were the North Dakota Air National Guard, which was on annual training at Langley AFB. They were relieved by the First Fighter Wing, flying F-16s, later that day. (I heard them on my multiband radio on the Potomac Approach channel).

So, how were they to shoot down a plane with only five minutes’ warning? Or 15?

Truly the unsung heroes of that day. Had anyone said the night before that the FAA was going to call a full unplanned, unrehearsed, unannounced, untrained for ground stop of every aircraft over the United States and Canada in a matter of a few hours while dealing with an airborne attack on the United States, no one would believe it would be possible let alone doing it with out losing a single aircraft.

Yeah, they thought flight 77 was also a different flight!

Good grief...anything to keep the hatred and confusion up......always the ‘boooosh’ did it crap.
