Wow, you’re up to date!
An hour ago I heard Newt endorse Scozzafava on Monica Crowley’s WABC radio show. Wonder if/when that was taped?

Scozzafava dropping out is no thanks to Newt.

Newt’s not a leader anymore-—he’s a follower — in the new conservative ‘Restore the Republic’ movement! Hop on board Newt -— or ‘git out da way’ RINO’s.

I caught Gingrich on with Monica Crowley earlier, in what was (obviously) a taped interview prior to today.

Paraphrasing Gingrich, he said it was dangerous to support Hoffman, fearing it would split the vote, giving the victory to the Democrat.

He deserves to be critizied for his late support, but his support is needed.

this is the most important endorsement Hoffman could have right now aside from Scozzafava’s

You call what Scuzzy said an endorsement? I don't.

Newts endorsement is MEANINGLESS at this point. It changes NOTHING.

The GOP made the mistake f compromising on PRINCIPLE to drag in the wish-washy UNPRINCIPLED. Now they have a party that doesn’t stand for anything. They are too busy trying to appease the liberals to keep them under the “BIG TENT”. The “BIG TENT” isn’t working. The “BIG TENT” has collapsed.

After 2006 and 2008 (John McCain), you would have thought the GOP had already fired all of their “experts”.

I have no problem with moderates in the GOP. What I don't like is the idea that conservatives must be abandoned in the name of "electability". It's a load of garbage that's been fed to us from party operatives, Democrats and the media.

The biggest problem with the RINOS is they always insist that conservatives should support THEM, but they never seem to want to return the favor.

IMO, moderates are the better skilled politicians and they are fast friends with liberals when it suits their own personal purposes. And the moderates despise with all their being conservatives, or ‘values voters’, or ‘purists’, or ‘one issue voters’. And some of the so called moderate, high minded word smiths, were repulsed by the commoner Sarah, NOT lord McCain but Sarah and who she is and what she represents.

Now the GOP ignored the wisdom of Reagan and deceived themselves into believing they needed to enlarge the ‘big tent’ and put in place all manner of sorts that literally could not be distinguished from the liberal mindset they call mainstream.

Moderates think it is their duty to always compromise with liberals and what happened is their ‘big tent’ was shrunk down to a golden TARP.

I can remember the moderate reaction to Duncan Hunter as a nobody member of the House of Representatives and nobody from the House ever gets elected president. So the ‘big’ money went to the leftist Republicans. I recall that this nation's national security was the major issue to the majority of moderates and that in their minds Rudy was the go to guy to protect US...

AND history shows every time a moderate or a liberal becomes the peoples choice this nation stumbles and leans left.

I have NO sympathy for the moderate political class as they can eat the cake being baked for them in the mainstream. They provided the dough for this mix and I do not care how bitter it is in their tummies.

...but (a) his support for Scozzafava was always strategic, driven more by stopping the Democrats next year than stopping Hoffman and (b) as her most prominent Republican supporter, this is the most important endorsement Hoffman could have right now aside from Scozzafava’s (or maybe Snowe’s or Collins’s).

Perfectly plausible, but that makes things worse if this is true.

The idea that Newt (and many others) are willing to sell out conservatism in the long run for short term gains means that they just do not get it.

Oh, and to anyone who has given money to the GOP recently: Hope you are happy buying support and publicity for Dede Scozzafava, who then turned it over to the Democrat in the race.

Your money directly helped the Democrats.
