The Times also delivers their own absurd 'blame the victims' perspective:
Mr. Obama has made it a goal of his presidency to repair relations with Muslims around the world; in a major speech in Cairo this year, he called for a new beginning with the Muslim world. The shootings at Fort Hood, however, pose a different problem for the president, by shining a spotlight on the tensions Muslims feel inside the United States.
Pardon me? This incident spotlighted the tensions felt by Muslims in the US? Please - if investigators had discovered that Hasan had recorded a Glenn Beck segment on his TiVo the Times would be fretting about a rising tide of right wing extremism.

At the link, the blogger behind justoneminute.typepad.com does a good job of pulling together several other sources (quotes from MSN and Obama) to make his point about 'blaming the victims' re Ft. Hood. Of particular interest to me was exertps and a link to a well researched article from NYPOst writer Steven Scwartz who took the time to investigate what particular strain of Islam Hasan was practicing at his mosque. "What interpretation of Islam influenced Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan? As often before, the trail leads to the official sect of Saudi Arabia -- known as Wahhabism to most of us of who denounce it." This author's devotion to actual reportage will no doubt get him into trouble although at the start of his column he notes that muslims in the US will also be wondering about this. Of the three comments currently posted on the NY Post article, one modifies the authors name, Steven Schwartz, to read as "Steven Swastika" and alleges that this journalist is urging the final solution - kill all muslims. Time to pray for Steven - he reported the truth about the relationship of Wahhabism to Islamic extremism. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/take_look_at_hasan_old_mosque_tqVGxjbLxWz8SV5tnpmV2N#ixzz0WCpRiMOM

At least Hasan didn’t do something really bad, like say, Rush Limbaugh.

If only Obama had prostrated himself on the floor at the feet of the Sheik, this wouldn’t have happened....
Or is it Bushes fault because BUSH NEVER BOWED TO THE MURDERERS?

pose a different problem for the president, by shining a spotlight on the tensions Muslims feel inside the United States. The answer is really quite simple. Leave the United States. No tension.

Mr. Obama did not address that concern directly. But, speaking in his weekly address, he seemed to urge Americans not to dwell on the faith of the assailant, by reminding the nation of the broad diversity of those who serve.Intentional misdirection. A strategy Islam has used with great success in the modern age.
