I think he absolutely does get it. He just doesn’t care about it. He is only saying what people want to hear, his acts will be much different.
I believe he was talking about small business tax CREDITS not tax cuts. There is a HUGH difference, and tax credits are not effective for job creation because (1) they tend to be one-time phenomena, and (2) they don’t really reduce a tax liability but rather just transfer it to someone else.
For example, let’s say my small business has a tax liability of $100,000 but I get a tax credit of $100,000 becuase I hired 5 part-time workers. I don’t have to pay any taxes this year, but that’s not because my taxes were cut. My tax liability was still $100,000 but I had a one-time tax credit that offset the liability. Next year, if nothing else changes, I still have a tax liability of $100,000. Because the taxes weren’t cut, I don’t really have an incentive to grow and/or create jobs. Those 5 part-time workers are out of work now (and probably drawing extended unemployment benefits).

Which won't accomplish squat for job creation as long as the Dems are crafting health care legislation, cap-and-trade legislation, and tax hikes on those making over $250,000/year. The best thing the Dems could do to help the economy is leave it alone right now.

Obama thinks all Fox views are conservative, so he talked about controlling the deficit, tax cuts, etc.
Obama thinks this is still the campaign and he can get support by saying different things to different groups.

Obama doesn’t get it. He doesn’t care if small businesses fail. When he is with the Chinese communists he talks about improving the American economy. When he gets back to Washington he will do the same as before.
He is “getting it” because his policies aren’t working, threatening his reelection and the continued Dem majority in Congress.
Imagine Oboma admitting the Bush tax cuts were right. The left would FREAK.
This is nothing but Obomaspeak. Admitting tax cuts work would defeat years of left wing propaganda.
He's a bitter man consumed with getting even with a country he hates. Anything positive coming out of his mouth has more to do with preventing his further slide into Jimmy Carterdom. He wants that second term & more importantly, he needs the Pelosi congress past 2010.

My guess is that he will let the Bush Tax Cuts expire, then come back with a small meaningless tax cut and claim he gave us a tax cut to "stimulate" the economy.
