Time to demand a manual recount.

human error" resulted in their "mistakenly" entering 0 votes for Hoffman in several districts, resulting in Owens leading Jefferson County on election night though the recanvas of the computer counts now show that Hoffman is leading

So, only the right wing vote was "problematic?" The "virus" was favorable to the democrat? Coincidence?

During the Clinton Senate campaign, many of the the Lazio switches were broken. In many places, it was impossible to vote for him, because it was too late to fix the machines. I suppose the election commitee simply "assumed" Hillary would win anyway.

I’m only 80 or so pages in to Going Rogue and enjoying very much “meeting” this amazing woman.

Wish I had a fourth of her energy.

What I most like is her integrity.

So:

Re-programmable voting machines supplied by Hugo Chavez’ company were found to have a computer virus one week before the most significant election of the year.

And AP, sends eleven reporters to “fact check” Sarah Palin’s book??

FBI need to be called?

Eric Holder, a crook, is our Attorney General. The FBI is in his "Justice" department.

Soon as we saw his nomination, we knew that Chicago school of political corruption was going to rule.

Don’t you imagine that deep down that FL woman knew she was merely espousing her love of the letter “D”. But maybe there are programs in place to pay many of her bills. The American people would like to get their hands on such programs too.

Scam artist extraordinaire.

What’s also funny is, they were for computerized voting machines...before they were against them.

The electronic voting machine with a paper back up

Agreed.

But are you aware of a single electronic voting system adopted in the US that uses a paper backup, or even paper statistical sampling??

I'm not.

And so the general skepticism of "all electronic voting" is sadly understandable (and could have been avoided)...

As for viruses and the internet...you're obviously too young to remember the origin of virii as bootstrap loaders on removable media. All of these systems upload data electronically, at least via direct-to-server modem connections. True, they're not intermixed with internet traffic, but all of these machines have diagnostic modes and firmware upgrade functions. And tell me about what lawyers call the "chain of custody" of this data once uploaded to these servers. Do these servers sit next to other machines? Do they have USB ports that accept thumbdrives? Yes? Well then there's your infection vector. Nuff said.

They used them in California where I voted until last year.

Which system? How were the paper ballots audited?

They were a touch screen made by Diebold. The printer was in a box and could not be touched by the voter. Once you voted the printer would print your votes on the paper that you could see thought a window. The printer used a roll of paper like a cash register. After they were printed you would accept or reject what you saw on the paper. When you accept the vote as correct it would roll to hide your vote from the next voter. If you rejected the vote because you made a mistake it would void the printed record and ask you to check your votes. The paper would be used only if a manual recount was requested. I knew the data base manager for the county voting records at the time and she though the system was secure.

Sorry, but the secret ballot is actually what keeps us from being intimidated before elections. Why do you think the Unions want to go to a non secret ballot? Because it is more fair or because they can then intimidate or have individuals fired for voting wrong(in their opinion)?Hint: it isn't because they think it will be fair. Secret ballot is the only way to go. However, a better process for tabulating the votes may be in order. One, a close race triggers a recount, laws should be in force that only ballots counted on the first count may be recounted, no ballots "found" during the recount will be counted but instead will be destroyed.ONLY one recount allowed, unless the results of the first recount finds in favor of the losing opponent, then a second recount is mandatory, the winner of two of the three counts will then decide the winner of the election.

All voters must present voter ID, and be fingerprinted at the polls on a standard form(electrical finger printing works fine and could be set up at polls). Fingerprints to be checked after the election and any discrepancy discovered will cause the fraudulent voter to be jailed for life without parole, no trial allowed. Paper ballots only. We still use them in my county in CA and they work well, we always vote conservative.

All of these ideas are workable and would cut down, if not out right eliminate, voter fraud. I am sure there are other ideas out there also.

However, secret ballots must be maintained if the integrity of our system is to be maintained at all.

Just knowing that the voting machines I trust to elect ACORN/SEIU backed candidates are running Windows makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside ...

Elimination of paper ballots and going wholesale into electronic voting is foolish regardless of what political party you support.

Agree 100%. There has to be an auditable trail.

The secret ballot was imported into the US in the late 19th century. It originated in Europe, and found its way here via Australia. Previous to the adoption of this idea, Americans were quite happy to stand up and be counted. Of course, women did not vote at that time.

US politicians (who expected to profit from vote stealing) sold the idea as part of the movement away from freedom toward security. This movement grew to include income tax, prohibition, increasing governmental control of the economy, widespread use of government schools and social security. It has now led to a communist in the white house (who is promising more "security" in the form of free health care).

It is true that unions prefer open ballots in company elections. Unions can bring in lots of thugs to intimidate the workers in a single factory, and the union leaders know that they are immune to prosecution because they own the politicians. The problem is that unions are allowed to break the law while "organizing". On the other hand, the union (and other statist) thugs do not constitute a majority of the electorate, so this sort of intimidation does not scale.

The government schools (and the SRM) continue to repeat the mantra that the secret ballot is sacred. It is and always has been a tool by which some politicians thwart the will of the voters. The promise of "security" is, as always, false. The cost of the guarantee that you cannot be held accountable for your vote is that your vote won't count. In the past, the fraud enabled by the secret ballot was limited to stealing close elections; President Acorn will remove such limitations.
