Don’t know. Backgrounds look a little too third world, even for El Paso. Don’t doubt was a self-defense shooting as described. It just probably took place somewhere else.
That said, the power of the .40 cal is evident in the getaway cyclist’s arms (3rd criminal). (Broke both of them -probably cut one or both of the arteries as well.)

The S&W .40 is a nasty cartridge with pretty powerful ballistics that can really mess someone up. I have its bigger more powerful brother the 10-mm Auto which has .41 Magnum like firepower and would do a far worse job than seen on these thugs.
