Many folks of MODEST means run to the USA to get quality healthcare
not available in their “enlightened socialist paradises”.
I’m related to some. I love them enough to NOT ask them why one of
their first stops upon arriving in flyover USA is...
to get a second opinion from an American doctor.
Recently, one got nearly immediate for an emergency problem.
That probably would have put them on one of those week-to-a-year
waiting lists to see a specialist back in the home country.
But, like George Bailey (of “It’s A Wonderful Life”), I never
try to explain to them that many of us are fighting ObamaCare...
so they’ll have someplace to run to when they can’t get timely
and/or quality care “back home”.

Bears repeating since I, like you, have experienced family members from abroad as well as friends who have and would love to get here to get treatment that is impossibly poor in govt run racket healthcare in Europe.
