I had a hunch we were! I wonder if you're in agreement with my wise ol' pop, who often says that it's a mistake to vote for the man. Better to vote for the philosophy -- the ideology, if you will. In that I am in definite agreement with you that an ideology must have a party. It's why I vote Republican ticket -- my dad has said that voting for a Republican president and then voting for Democrats in Congress is like hiring a carpenter but giving him only plumber's tools.
I must say, however, that after Schwarzenegger, I will no longer default to the Republican. Had McCain chosen as his running mate a Romney or similar big-intrusive-government RINO, my vote would have gone elsewhere. I learned quite a lot from Schwarzenegge, and will apply what I've learned: RINOs forfeit my vote from now on. They didn't used to -- but they do now; voting for them now is fulfilling Einstein's definition of insanity.
Thanks for a good discussion.
Agreed. I'm sick of settling for a Republican because they're a Republican. And I feel sorry for Californians with Scwarzanegger. He might as well just switch parties and save people from doing their homework.
