I hear some doctor’s offices are already asking patient (via forms they fill out) if they own a gun.

I was asked that by my “doctor” several years ago. I told him it was none on his business. I will never answer that question, or if forced, will not answer it honestly.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

True. Mr. RightField just got a new doctor here in FL (he just went on Medicare). And one of the "personal" questions was whether he owned a gun. We brought up the question with the secretary. She said she didn't know it was there ... they buy the forms from some supply house.

And she said she wouldn't indicate for herself either, and she doubted the doctor would, as practically the whole office were members of the NRA with CCW permits. She said she would bring the question to the doctors' attention.

I got the feeling the office had just recently started to purchase forms from this new supplier. Of course, not knowing this office, they could just as easily been telling us the same lie they tell any new patient who objects to the gun ownership question. How do you know?

“I hear some doctor’s offices are already asking patient (via forms they fill out) if they own a gun.”

WHAT? That is outrageous!

Actually, they’ve been doing that for a while. My response on one occasion was to write in NYFB on the form. When asked to expalin the response, I smiled and said, “none of your friendly business.”

On another occasion, I responsed to a verbal question by askign the doctor if he was a firearms expert. Answer: no. Then I asked if he was a firearms instructor or martial artist. Answer: no. I then responsed by saying that a) the information was none of his business and b) he lacked the qualifications to pass judgement on anyone’s firearms ownership.

He took umbrage at that and insisted that firearms in he home were a danger. “To whom,” I asked. “Why, children,” he responded. I replied that both of our kids were excellent shots and were well schooled in firearms safety. End of conversation.
