What irritates me the most about all of this? I’ve always tried to live within my means and take care of my family. We’ve always tried to avoid debt. When I took a mortgage, I scrimped and saved to pay it off in less than half the normal loan period. Some people told me I was a fool to do so. They said it was better to invest the money and make a greater return. I, on the other hand, believe debt is something that should always be paid down first.

I’m not bragging here. In fact, I continue to penalize my own family by behaving responsibly. There are no government handouts waiting for me, but I’m given the “privilege” of paying for everyone else who hasn’t tried to hold up their end in this shared thing Mark Levin likes to call the civil society.

So, it irritates me that I will likely lose everything I have tried to build over decades of work. When hyperinflation or depression or both hit, those who have tried to do what is right will be taken right along with those who have spent decades with their hands out for more and more debt, whether through government wealth redistribution or excessive private debt.

If and when the takers start rioting (when they can’t get things handed to them any longer), we’ll all be caught up in the mess together. Worse, we could very well see the end of what so many brave patriots sacrificed to create for us!

I put my faith in God that He’ll take care of me and mine, but it doesn’t make it any easier to see this nation torn apart by increasingly immoral citizens. The only thing that mitigates that somewhat in my mind is the knowledge that there are other God-fearing and/or moral FReepers/conservatives left. There are still people who believe in liberty but more importantly, have the self-discipline to behave morally and restrain themselves for the betterment of all of us.

Liberty cannot survive without morality!

When the madness became obvious in the early 60s, most people thought it would not last and therefore, did not confront what originated in academia..The drug use, the rewriting of history, irresponsible sexual behavior, etc., etc., etc. So, it just rolled on and on, through administration after administration until those lusting to get rid of our Judeo-Christian values have just about declared victory. Now, the looting of the taxpayer for the purposes of financing the redistribution necessary to bring about a different form of government (socialism or communism) is going full steam ahead, regardless of how many are against such actions. The boldness of the D.C. politicians is breathtaking..I ask myself, “Are they all on drugs?” Do they not care that their children will not escape the Armageddon they are bringing down upon us? Then I realize that this is the abortion-loving crew..They do not care about children. My hope is that God will act in some way no human has thought of to restore sanity and rationality to this nation. My fear is that God is fed up with a people so incredibly blessed by Him who responded with an elected government whose legislation is filled with nothing but greed, avarice and hypocrisy. Good people will pay a painful price for all that and perhaps it is what will bring some to their senses enough to fight all this evil. The only thing we can do is what we have been doing all along which is to live out those values you describe in your post and not to despair.

You have echoed my sediments exactly too. Ticks me off that I have worked so hard to avoid debt, only to have it siphoned off by a hyperinflationary event caused by everyone elses' financial irresponsibility.

I am preparing, for the worst, and will not heistate to blow away any intruder trying to get tap into my supplies.

I have plenty of land to bury the bodies.

yep, our society punishes responsible people and rewards the irresponsible. That’s the basic jist of their “stimulus”: “don’t pay your debts off, take your money and gamble it at the giant wall street casino. Oh, you wanted to invest conservatively in money markets and CDs? no no no, sorry, we’re gonna eff that up for you too by creating so much money that a money market won’t even pay interest anymore so now you don’t really have a choice but to gamble irresponsibly with the rest of America. happy speculating prole”.

Put what money you have into tangible assets (food, precious metals, etc). This will give you a better chance at surviving the coming collapse better than those who put all their faith in green wrapping paper.
