In the Controversies From The Past Department, we recall this story. (I was reminded of it after reading an article at ProfessorBainbridge.com.)
Six years ago, a list was published that showed the political affiliation of the Duke All Men Are Potentially Rapists University faculty. Some departments, like History, had no Republicans; the others had large majorities of Democrats.
The list caused such a stink that professors were compelled to respond publicly. They held a public forum to discuss How Could This Happen?
At that forum, the chairman of the Philosophy department, Robert Brandon, and therefore a man who would be expected to have at least a passing familiarity with logic said this:
If, as John Stuart Mill said, stupid people are generally conservative, then there are lots of conservatives we will never hire. Mills analysis may go some way towards explaining the power of the Republican party in our society and the relative scarcity of Republicans in academia. Players in the NBA tend to be taller than average. There is a good reason for this. Members of academia tend to be a bit smarter than average. There is a good reason for this too.
He later claimed that he was joking.
In response in the Duke Chronicle, Mary Bejan, a Duke parent, pwned Brandon so badly that the man still has trouble sitting:...

Dumb is paying $50K+ a year to get a diploma from Duke.
Das ist der Schwerpunkt.
Libs may be more educated, on average, than Conservatives; but, being educated does not make you smart. All the education in the world will do you no good if you aren’t smart enough to use it wisely. I would rather be governed by someone with an average intellect who has the wisdom to use his or her “limited” education to its maximum potential than be governed by someone with multiple degrees in multiple subjects who has little to no idea of how to practically apply that knowledge.
“Libs may be more educated, on average, than Conservatives”
Conservatives average 2.5 years more education than Liberals per a study done several years ago.
In other words, book smart, street dumb.
If the dude had a brain, he would know that, by and large, what we today refer to as conservative ideology would have been called “liberal” by John Stuart Mill.
Interesting.
You don't see Republican operatives agitating for the inclusion of illegal aliens and convicted felons in the voting population.
On election day, you don't see Republican operatives enticing winos and junkies to the polls with promises of free cigarettes and booze.
The flat-out stupidest people in America form the very basis for the Democratic Party voting base. And the college-educated in that group are no exception to the rule, they just have a veneer of fancy paperwork and a pretentious vocabulary to mask their inferior intellectual capacity.
I've noticed that liberals often try to use this excuse after making some statement that should embarrass them to death. And of course, the liberal media lets them get away with it.
If a conservative professor at a conservative college had said the same type of thing about liberals, he'd have been harrassed until he resigned.
Some days I wish conservatives would do more of this kind of thing. Other days, I just rest in the fact that some day we will all stand before God, and they will answer for this kind of nonsense.
But leftists are more irrational than conservatives, because they act as if they are the enemies of man and are working towards his destruction.
