It’s the April Fools Day letter again. I particularly like the part about Obama applying for a Fulbright scholarship to go to Occidental, despite the fact that Fulbrights are only for graduate and post-graduate students, not undergrads.

So what is your theory as to how Obama paid his way at private Occidental College in California?

I was thinking: If Obama went to an expensive school in Hawaii, I would think that his family paid a lot of tuition.

If true that Obama's family paid a lot in tuition at the Hawaii school, then I wonder how they could afford to pay Obama's expenses at private college Occidental College in California. Just wondering.

So what is your theory as to how Obama paid his way at private Occidental College in California?

His grandmother was a bank vice president. His mother worked for USAID and the Ford Foundation. So the family wasn't exactly poor. He would have qualified for scholarships as a black American student, a status for which there are a lot more scholarships than foreign students), and he could have simply gotten student loans like most people at that time did.

Whatever the case, he did not get a Fulbright Scholarship as this letter claims.
