Aside from the high taxes, fascistic gun laws, and political corruption amongst all parties (including the improperly named "Conservative Party"), its a great place to live. The city has everything I need, aside from the aforementioned.

Besides, I love Texas, I just hate Houston, the only city moronic enough to elect Lee Brown Mayor after he was almost (literally) lynched for incompetance as police chief in NYC under Dinkins.

I love the Hill Country, the panhandle, even the Permian. Austin would be on my list for best mid-sized city in the United States, were it not for all the granola-eating she-men.

Sorry, I don’t consider Perry a conservative. He sounds like one every 4 years or so.

As we say in Fort Worth, “Life’s too short to live in Dallas.”

Great points! We do have close beaches. Just west of Houston is not bad. You can get on I-10 and travel from coast to coast. Granted by August we are praying for rain and cooler temps. but life is good!

I keep on hearing Austin,

No, no, and hell no. Austin has some of the highest taxes as does Travis county. Stay out of Travis county if possible. Williamson county is just north about 15 miles and property taxes are much lower. I actually moved out of Austin in 1985 into Williamson county, but back into Travis in 1990. The reason was to get out of a now liberal area.

Here is what Austin is talking about now. Linking downtown and the airport with a light rail or street car system. Cost is estimated at $50 million, but that is probably 50% low. Now, they want to get broadband access for ALL children in the schools and taxpayers will have to foot the bill. Tax, tax, tax, and tax some more.

Turning a downtown street into a bike boulevard so people can commute on their bikes. At the end of Nueces ST, is a bike shop owned by . . . . . . . . .drum roll please - - Lance Armstrong. Nope, no conflict of interest there. Those are just a few thing WRONG with Austin.

FIRE ANTS!! Yes, make sure you ask about them right off. Moved here thirty years ago and that first encounter was quite an eye opener. LOL!!!

When I was a little girl, I’d follow my brothers to the field across the street where they’d regularly slip M80s into Fire Ant nests. Good times!

Wish I had M80s years ago when I was playing in a college softball tourney in Orlando. Took my shoes and socks off between games and the fire ants decided to set up shop in my socks. Had bites all over my right ankle that lasted for 6 weeks. Bastards. But lesson learned!

Dallas has major sports teams and a ton of things to do...

Have you ever heard of the Houston Texans, Astros and Rockets?

The Cowboys haven't been to the Super Bowl since the Texans entered the NFL; the Astros were in the World Series in '05; the Rockets were world Champs twice.

Two out of three Houston beats Dallas pro teams and the Texans will be in the Super Bowl before the Cowboys.

Houston doesn't have to look at Jerry Jones!

Have you looked into Austin or San Antonio? You’re young enough to get a kick out of Austin, and we need Freepers there.

But we don't need more people. He can only move to the most awesome city in the most awesome state in the union if he kicks out a whiny lefty first.

=)

Actually Fannin County went for McCain/Palin. How did you get Palin leading the ticket in your county?

No one voted for McCain. They voted for Palin and the white haired guy that followed her around. Was his name McCain?

Wrong...bar rag breath....you may have voted for Palin thinking she was leading the ticket....but guess what? Had America not had it’s collective head up their asses and the Republican ticket won they would have called McCain “Mr. President and Palin “Madame Vice President”.
