Google has unveiled one of the greatest toys ever

A virtual glass elevator that lets you fly around the world.

Made by a few of the engineers in their spare time, the Liquid Galaxy project is an interactive booth with wraparound LCD screens.

The screens show synchronised views from Google Earth and you can use a six-axis mouse to move your way through air and water.

The effect is stunning. Take a look below: Video at site

Interesting. But it’s running on 8 Linux machines . . . a bit more than I can afford.

I will buy NOTHING that is Google. Al Gore sits on the board and makes LOTS of money from Google, and I will NOT be responsible for putting one red cent in his fat-ass pocket.

Were the writers of The Matrix familiar with Lem's work? Sounds like a similar premise.

They were probably familiar with it - but I think The Matrix was a bit different on the reality issue. In The Futurological Congress, reality was determined by drugs that shaped what your brain perceived whereas with The Matrix my take on it is that everyone is just a computer program even when they think they are ‘outside’ The Matrix.

>”I thought he was on the board of Apple.”

I believe that is also true. (Note: these organizations that Gore helps run are all Liberal and donate heavily to Liberal causes. Coincidence or Pay Off?)

I will not participate in anything that Gore has a part in.

And for those that use Google Chrome, there have been some serious issues raised with Google logging in what Web sites you visit, etc. I dont know if these have been addressed yet, but I sure dont want someone selling or collecting my info without my permission or knowledge.
