I could be completely out of line here, but I’m just going to say it anyway. As Christians we really need to stop picking on each other. From politics to the public school system, it seems that everyone has an opinion about everyone else and we’re not afraid to share it with the world. Differences in doctrine and parenting alone can be enough to get us riled up fast. It’s a dog eat dog world out there and it seems like the older I get, the more often I need to pull over and get a rabies shot.

I think this mentality is what got Corinth in trouble.

Some of you older Baptists may remember Curtis Hutson. I was a member of his church outside of Atlanta for years and remember a sermon he gave called “Die, Fight, and Fuss.” The premise was that as Christians there were certain things that prevent us from holding fellowship from another person and there were some things that were just worth a good old fashioned argument.

He also cautioned to not take secular issues and turn them into Biblical ones and that as Christians we should make sure that if we are ready to die or fight for something to make sure we have strong, unequivocal Biblical evidence for our position.

Those words could not be more true today for Conservatives. There are many important issues out there, but we need to make sure we, as a group, pick the right fight at the right time. We need to know our opponent and know where the best chinks in the armor are rather than spin our wheels on pipe dreams

As in Corinthians?

That is why you two are anti Mormons?

Jesus only gave us one commandment. Simple eh? I'm thankful he's the one forgiving us.

Not anti-Mormons. Victimology is one of the sacraments of the LDS church.

I am against Mormonism.

That is a distinction without a difference, Mormonism defines Mormons.

Everyone plays the victim card, especially 'Christians.'

Your denomination should not define you. You are Saved by Grace, not Denomination

If that is the case, why are there different denominations? And do you think that Catholics agree that you are saved by Grace alone?

Liberals have one “party line” - we allow for people to have differences... Our way is better.

“If that is the case, why are there different denominations? “

Churches aren’t cookie-cutter operations. For instance, I am a Methodist in the Roanoke Conference. Our churches tend to be very low-key, infant baptism, by the book, very quiet places. Very reverent.
In the Holsten Conference, they are charismatic, full immersion baptism, louder, more free form churches. Same denomination, different look and feel.

“And do you think that Catholics agree that you are saved by Grace alone?”

Probably not but I didn’t write the Bible. I’m just repeating what it says.

Why do you baptize babies? Mark 10:14 ..Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Certainly the act of baptizing babies isn't considered saved by grace is it? If you really believe in saved by grace you had better pray that those babies get saved before something bad happens to them don't you think?

Mormons consider the act of baptizing infants to be abhorrent. To them little children and infants are pure and free of sin, "of the kingdom of God'.

“And do you think that Catholics agree that you are saved by Grace alone?”

Probably not but I didn’t write the Bible. I’m just repeating what it says.

If Catholics don't believe in Saved by Grace, how can you consider them another Christian denomination? Since Saved by Grace was your criteria for being a Christian denomination? Or don't you believe that Catholics are Christians?

Baptism doesn’t Save you. It’s a sacrament. The Bible does not give a detailed explanation on how baptisms should be done.

“Mormons consider the act of baptizing infants to be abhorrent. To them little children and infants are pure and free of sin, “of the kingdom of God’. “

We believe that ALL have sinned and fallen short. All need to come to repentance. Mormon beliefs can change. What is abhorrent today can be acceptable tomorrow.

“If Catholics don’t believe in Saved by Grace, how can you consider them another Christian denomination?”

If the Catholic Church doesn’t believe in Saved by Grace, then it is not a Christian church.

Eph 2:8-9
(8) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
(9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Then why do it to babies?

We believe that ALL have sinned and fallen short. All need to come to repentance. Mormon beliefs can change. What is abhorrent today can be acceptable tomorrow.

That isn't true. Can you name an abhorrent doctrine in the Churches past that is acceptable today?

Eph 2:8-9 (8) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Are you implying that the Catholics are wrong when it comes to your basic doctrine of Saved by Grace?

Then why do it to babies? “

Because it makes the parents feel good?

I believe baptism is a public acknowledgment of accepting Christ
and an act of obedience to Christ.

“Then why do it to babies?”

Tradition. The Catholics did it and the Anglicans did it so the Methodists do it. Entire households were baptized in antiquity.

“That isn’t true. Can you name an abhorrent doctrine in the Churches past that is acceptable today?”

Ordaining blacks?

Eph 2:8-9 (8) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

“Are you implying that the Catholics are wrong when it comes to your basic doctrine of Saved by Grace? “

The Catholic Church is wrong if it doesn’t follow Saved by Grace.
