The arrogance of these people astound me. First it was the messiah movement in which they believed they had the mandate to move our country into Socialism. Then...when the polls tanked and it was shown that the people DID NOT want Socialism what do they do?
Try to shove it through anyway:
Four Democratic senators, including two facing potentially challenging election campaigns this year, are asking Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to use reconciliation, a procedural maneuver requiring only 51 votes, to push for a public health insurance option.Sens. Michael Bennet (Colo.), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio) and Jeff Merkley (Ore.) signed a letter to Reid saying they support this plan for four reasons: the cost savings the public option is estimated to achieve, continued public support for the public option, the need for increased competition in the insurance market and the Senate's history of using the reconciliation process for health care reform.
"Put simply, including a strong public option is one of the best, most fiscally responsible ways to reform our health insurance system," the letter says. "Although we strongly support the important reforms made by the Senate-passed health reform package, including a strong public option would improve both its substance and the publics perception of it."
They must see the writing on the wall. The days of the Democrat party being anywhere close to 60 votes has come and gone and a November massacre is in the wind so why not just go for it all?
But do they even have 51 votes for it?

All I can say is that there are quite a few people in Colorado who cannot wait for November to roll around so they can vote the fool, Bennett, out of office.
Would the bill pass the house?
I think we should help this along, we could call it, assisted suicide.
And Bayh accused the Republicans of too much partisanship?
Bennet knows he’s not returning next January.
Both Merkley & Wyden need to go away permanently. I am fed up with the traitorous Commie politicians from Oregon. Merkley, Wyden...you both SUCK!
“Would the bill pass the house?”
The premise is that the House passes the Senate bill exactly as is and that reconciliation is used as a “mop-up” operation to make fixes in the bill that the House can’t abide (minor details such as abortion funding). There are huge problems with this approach, not the least of which is that Republicans can offer unlimited amendments to a reconciliation bill. It is by no means a “slam dunk” to get an acceptable bill using this procedure, even though only 51 votes are needed.
As the last line from FloppingAces states: “Can the Democrats be this stupid?”
Apparently so! Go Nancy, Go Harry, Go Obama! When health reform is officially deader than a doornail, it will be a hoot to watch all the Democratic finger-pointing that ensues. Essentially, Obama got the ball down to the 1 or 2 or 3 yard-line (depending on which Dem is invoking this analogy) and then wasn’t able to score. The entire debacle proves what smart voters knew in November 2008: this guy was not ready for prime time.
MORE SAKI! BANZAI!
Let us block the coming field goal attempt.
Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)
New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.
TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
Bambi doesn't keep his promises...so buyer beware.
suicid=suicide
You’re frightening the children.
Suicide for health care. Seems appropriate.
Jump! Jump! Jump!
Great idea---make sure to keep records so that we can get reimbursed from O/Care (snicker).
