Yes, that’s the part I find puzzling, maybe because I’m foreign-born and only had a H1 visa for a while. In his situation I wouldn’t have mentioned either “anything to hide..” or “any concerns..”. Why risk a glimmer of light if one doesn’t have to...It actually shows he ain’t too smart and runs off at the mouth when he’s scared and insecure. One would never need to waterboard him.
