What can anyone say about ignorance and arrogance of this level. I would love to get this guy in a factual debate. He has an absolute orgasm about muzzle and downrange velocity but never mentions anything about ballistic coefficient or impact energy. He goes on to mention that the .223 cartridge would be suitable for African game, Elephants, and bear. I’ve hunted all over the world and I have never seen a .223/5.56 anywhere on any hunt for any big game animal. I would rather go up against a Kodiak brown bear with my bow than with a 223. This so called expert plainly does not understand what people shoot in national match competition. There are tens of thousands of people in this country that shoot AR-15 platform weapons every weekend on the ranges.
The commentator was a moron. He just does not like black guns. Somehow a black gun is more dangerous to clean than other guns. He is just an idiot.
Any defense attorney that would let this expert get away with these lies on a witness stand should be disbarred.

I shoot a 280AI sporter in long range comp. This pair would have a stroke if they saw what a good marksman can do with a 12 pound rifle scope set up off of a bench at 800 yards. The 223 is a lightweight gnat. Every comp shooter I know shoots a heavy for caliber bullet. The 7MM bullets I load and shoot for long range are 170 gr Nosler CT’s. I can adjust for down range trajectory but I can’t add energy after it leaves the barrel.
I just remembered, that muzzle velocity he was talking about is only for the really lightweight bullets, like 40-50gr - right? You know. the ones that tumble like a circus act?
Is that that shoulder thing that goes up?
Give the guy a break. I hunt elephants every autumn in North Idaho, but I use an older, less technically advanced version of the .223 called the .30-06. Unfortunately, the elephant is an endangered species in our area, so I have to settle for smaller game. I'd really like to get one of those "expert witness" gigs.
I load and shoot some 62gr hollow points that are super accurate. With this load my kid with his young eyes can print clover leaves all day with the AR we have set up for varmints. We have a couple prairie dog towns that we shoot and he rarely misses anything out to a hundred and fifty yards. As accurate as that rifle is nobody in this house will ever hunt big game with it. I’m building a couple of 6.8’s right now. These will be light, short, and quick blacktail brush rifles. The impact energy in this round is a lot better than the 223. As with everything else I load and shoot the 223 hollow points are not loaded to max velocity. I load for many different calibers and I am an accuracy freak. If I build it own it and shoot it then it has to shoot half inch groups out of a machine rest. I always start out with a mid load and then work up and down to find the sweet spot for that rifle, powder, and bullet. I usually find that sweet spot a little under max load.

There was a commercial for some bathroom cleaning product where they were panicking that every time you flush your toilet, it releases into the air an "explosive amount of pathogens". I always bitched to my wife when it came on that I never realized "explosive" was an "amount".
