Outstanding essay. After a long road, we have arrived at serfdom.
Problem is, a lot of us don't want to be serfs.CW2 Ping

A union officer and a policeman. Just about the worst combo that can be.

Yep. And if you don’t like it, his badged goons will take care of you.
But if you are a pal on his secret “VIP list,” you get a special “no tickets” sticker to put on your car.
We’re becoming the biggest banana republic on the planet. Argentina with nukes.

Time will tell if we have the testicular fortitude to do anything about it.

"I think the U.S. taxpayer deserves to lose a trillion dollars over this thing for the way they have behaved." Does anyone have any idea what was the behavior of the U.S. taxpayer that, in the mind of the unnamed self-appointed aristocrat, merited us losing a terabuck?
Also, what's a "Lubyanka Breakfast" in store for Matt Taibbi? Gruel and lead?

Look for the internal Galt’s Gulch. Have you read Tom Baugh’s “Starving the Monkeys?” That’s good place to start to look for your own gulch.

we are so screwed. our own gov’t and it's loyal legions of public employees and their unions have become engines of plunder. It will not stop until all that is left are the bones of the citizens. We are now outnumbered, over powered and defenseless. We debate amongst ourselves about legislation, rights, economics, etc. Meanwhile, during all the diversion, all the flanking maneuvers have been completed. Watch CA to see how it all unfolds.

Lubyanka was the KGB HQ and prison in Moscow.
A Lubyanka Breakfast was a cigarette and a bullet in the back of the head down in the basement cells.

A Lubyanka Breakfast was a cigarette and a bullet in the back of the head down in the basement cells. And since then, the "Lubyanka" has gone "smoke-free", so you don't even get the cigarette.

Serfs only paid 30% to their Lords. We pay 55%. I’d say we passed serfdom years ago and are now into slavery.

Actually, my husband and I have “gone Gulch”.
My husband quit his job at the age of 47.
My husband was a lead chemist for a research team for one of the world's largest chemical firms. He holds 6 patents (profits go to the company), wrote many articles in the leading journals of his field, lectured world wide, and was honored as a distinguished scientist at the early age of 40 by the scientists in his company.
I am a health professional in one of the most competitive and lucrative health professions. I have been a member of two professional boards ( one was a state level professional board and the other an international professional organization). I sold my practice at the age of 59.
Why did we quit?
1) The last straw that broke my husband's back came when he was given a bonus for one of his inventions. Half the check was taken in various local, state, and federal taxes.
2) I finally gave up too because what was left after the taxes simply wasn't enough to compensate for the aggravation and responsibility for looking after my patients and paying off my employees and vendors. I call it “trickle-up” economics. Enough did not trickle up to me.
In our early years we saved like crazy, worked our way out of all debt with the intensity of laser surgery, and lived as simply as possible.
We are doing everything possible to see that the government ( local, state, and federal) gets as little out of us as possible. Our entire lives are structured around that principle.
