Btw, you're the second poster today who's written me lamenting the 19th amendment. lol. I used to say "Repeal the 19th!" in my tagline.

You may be right that people will screw up whatever system they get. It's possible some problems simply don't have solutions. I just think creating a national republic was a mistake, and begged for trouble when they could have/should have simply amended the old confederation.

I don’t mention the 19th very often. It’s not a very popular point of view. It usually means its time for duck and cover.

I think the Jews of the Old Testament got it right. Men just keeps rebuilding the Tower of Babel and it just keeps falling down. Each time, the builders think they got it right this time.

I'm inclined to agree.

Midnight on a carousel ride
Reaching for the brass ring,
Down inside.

Never could reach it
Just slips away
But I try...

Liberals are Morlocks, intent on subjugating the rest of us and turning us into passive, hapless Eloi whom they can farm like cattle and feed off of us, at first only metaphorically, but, eventually, literally, just like the Morlocks in Welles' The Time Machine.

Green Day was right for the wrong reasons.

Amen.

“Before the bullets start to fly—why not hold a National Strike—No one works, goes to school, all roads and highways closed from traffic. Let the streets be filled with singing mobs of patriots. Out congressmen should be burned in effegee
as well as the president the Joker-in-Chief. Close down the nation for a week. All governmental offices closed. It works in Europe. No one should buy anything outside of food.”

It goes in the right direction, but it won’t work. Not enough people participate to make it worth while.
The founders of this nation did not start the revolution and move toward independence. They materialized it. It is something that grew for decades. During those many years, the founders and their predecessors tried every single means toward reform. They petitioned, they begged. They did not one day just up and decide to start shooting Redcoats. They tried it all. And it ALL FAILED. It failed like it always fails. It always fails because the master or ruling entity has no reason whatsoever to negotiate or accommodate the weak. There’s no incentive either. The will just let you protest, and strike (depriving your family of money) while knowing that they are the master and you are a slave and are too afraid to rise up.

The Articles of Confederation were beyond repair. That is why the great Framers devised our beloved Constitution.

In the absense of reason, one can always resort to moony sentimentalism. Here's some mushy artwork to go along with it. Look at the cute ducks! Isn't that nice!

Patrick Henry never offered changes to repair the Articles of Association and neither can you.
