People in horrible condition with no chance to recover should be allowed to commit suicide if they wish. And yeah, with proper consent, witnesses, etc, I see no real problem with assisted suicide in many cases. ANYONE has the right to commit suicide, but that doesn't make it right and it doesn't mean that the government should participate.
Really no different than a soldier wounded and about to be captured and tortured by Islamic radicals- if he/she feels they are going to die anyway and may as well go out on their own terms, I just dont have any objections to it.
It's totally different. That is dying to protect others.
