““We are done,” President Obama said”

Looks like House members are getting hung out to dry. Obama clearly doesn’t care whether reconciliation passes the Senate. He’s made history and thinks he’s going to enter the pantheon of great presidents. In truth, as this monstrosity unravels as it is picked apart by court rulings and future Republican-majority Congresses, the remaining Swiss cheese won’t be much to brag about. Moreover, no one-term president shows up in most top-10 lists. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_rankings_of_Presidents_of_the_United_States

Obama’s going to be like an Olympic gold medal winner whose medal is later stripped for steroid use. History will not regard him with great favor and even Dems may come to vilify him for the damage done to the party in his single-minded pursuit of a “historic” trophy to secure his “legacy.”

Obama will NOT be recorded as a President, but as an asterisk --
" * Fraudulent usurper of office, removed after 17 months in office."

I’d like to think all of that is so, but then I looked at the chart going along with the citation you provided. It’s clear that liberal/progressives dominate the field of study being consulted, not least by self-identification. If that continues, then the current trend to approve of liberal/progressive presidents and to disapprove of everybody else (good, bad and indifferent alike) will also continue. No sane historian yokes Jefferson and Lincoln together. The only basis for equating them is in impact on the nation. I’d go with Jefferson because his influence was positive, overall. I’d like to say the same about Lincoln, but I just don’t think prosecuting the War between the States was either worth the death or even the principled strategy to accomplish the alleged aims. And it bequeathed the nation with enduring internal hostility from that day to this.

So when I see a chart showing liberals approving both men, I understand it was the liberal/progressive elements of their policies which are being approved, which is false history. Not every type or form of government or policy is truly right or appropriate at all times and some are positively poisonous (as is the case now). I’d suspect that this cadre of liberal professors won’t have any difficulty ranking Obama high, whatever the practical consequences of his policies. Look at how highly they praise Cleveland (perhaps bracketing the colorless B Harrison had something to do with it).

I think we won’t live to see honest historical assessment of our own history, except by a few. The mass are simply too compromised by their ideologies.
