I don’t particularly care for church but here is a thot. My father was a minister (God rest his soul) and when I used to complain about all the hypocrites and liars and gossipy people in church he would always say that you would get that in most any group-religious or otherwise. Church is not for perfect people. OTOH, if churches would do what churches are supposed to do - ya know like pray, study the bible and sing hymns and PREACH THE WORD and not this nonsense devotional shallow pablam (sp?) stuff then maybe people would come. Really gets my ire up.
Tax Collecting was a far different profession in Christ’s day and generally involved stealing everything from everyone in a particular village or town....oh wait...not that different at all.
