To what Ellis Island stands for

Thanks for that and the pic, they’ve made my day. I think America is special too, I have hope we’ll come out ok, I just am sad over the price that MUST be paid, by every man woman and child (eventually), for the freedom we so desperately seek. Someone will ALWAYS come to take it, sooner or later. Generations just forget every few years, because we become focused on the here and now, and keep repeating it.

Good point. People do forget. They get caught up in being prosperous, and forget those people and ideas that allowed their prosperity. It does seem though, that we are seeing an awakening.
My ancestors didn’t come through Ellis Island, they came through Boston instead. The major ports of entry on the east coast a century ago were Boston, New York, and Baltimore.
