I think of the accomplishments of some of the kids that came out of Dunbar High in DC, back in the bad old segregation days, and just shake my head. All the upheaval and sacrifice to undo all that, and look what so many are doing with it. It’s sad. You, and people like you, are the only ones who can speak out and alter the trajectory. Everyone else gets branded racist.
That latent responsibility is something that's in the back of every black conservative's mind. I didn't ask for the job, but I've got to admit that me and others like me are best equipped to take the conservative message to the black community.
I've had people urge me on more than one occasion to take up that task. I'm still rolling it around. Right now, I'm just trying to do my bit for America.
While I certainly am delighted to have such a clear thinking American as Mr. Windflier on our side, I have to respectfully disagree with this statement.
We can all help change the trajectory. In certain circles, Mr. Windflier will be more effective because of race considerations (not to mention he certainly "gets it"). However, as is clear from some of his posts, even he is branded a racist for speaking his mind. Sure, non-black conservatives will be more likely to get branded as racist (maybe), but so what?
Uncountably many Americans have literally given their lives to defend our freedom. Subjecting ourselves to a charge of "racist" is a small sacrifice in comparison. That said, I congratulate Mr. Windflier for clearly being willing to make it. Let's follow his example and accept that burden, too, and not let it keep us from speaking out in defense of our freedom - freedom for all Americans regardless of race from bloated overbearing government.
