It struck me when I read “John saw, near the throne, ‘the souls of those who had been BEHEADED for their testimony to Jesus and for the word of God’” that beheading is one of the favorite methods of execution for Muslims. Am I reading more into this than is really there? What do you think

No, In fact the Muslim religion is the most obvious candidate to produce the antichrist if one does an eschatalogical comparison of their religion and end time beliefs against Biblical prophect regarding the characteristics of the antichrist and his end time objectives. The parallels are undeniable. Joel Richardson has addressed this in his book, "The Islamic Antichrist". I strongly recommend it to every Christian who recognizes that we are truly living in the historical end time period immediately preceding the return of Jesus Christ.
