Government employees are seldom held responsible even when they say they'll take responsibility. Did Reno pay a fine? Was she demoted? Did she take a pay cut? How was she held responsible?
Over and over we see government employees, from the top down, break laws and get a slap on the wrist. A school bus drive can break traffic laws, resulting in the death of children, and only serve ninety days. Postal employees can steal DVDs, and get suspended for a few months. Police officers can shoot a woman, who's just driving down the street, and receive a few demerits. If average citizens did these things they'd be in jail for years, and the companies they work for would pay millions in fines.
