Former NOAA oil spill cleanup boss says Obama waited too long in Gulf disaster
The Washington Examiner by Way of the Weekly Standard ^ | 5/2/10 | Mark Tapscott

Gouget told the Registe that NOAA officials at the Unified Command Center in Louisiana know how to respond to spills, and know burning should have started as soon as possible after the initial release was detected. He also speculated that they may have been prevented from doing so by higher officials.

"It may have been a political issue. The burn would make a big big plume and lots of soot. Like Valdez, the decisions to get the resources mobilized may not have occurred until it was too late," Gouget told the Register. "This whole thing has been a daily strip tease. At first they thought it was just the diesel, then they said the well wasn't leaking. It's unfortunate they didn't get the burning going right away. They could have gotten 90 percent of the oil before it spread."

ScienceDaily (Jan. 27, 2000) - Twice an Exxon Valdez spill worth of oil seeps into the Gulf of Mexico every year, according to a new study that will be presented January 27 at the Ocean Sciences Meeting in San Antonio, Texas

But the oil isn’t destroying habitats or wiping out ocean life. The ooze is a natural phenomena that’s been going on for many thousands of years, according to Roger Mitchell, Vice President of Program Development at the Earth Satellite Corporation (EarthSat) in Rockville Md. “The wildlife have adapted and evolved and have no problem dealing with the oil,” he said.

This is an excellent example of why you shouldn’t forward random emails from “experts.”

"The only piece of human technology that might address this is a nuclear bomb. I’m not kidding. If they put a nuke down there in the right spot it might seal up the hole. Nothing short of that will work.

If we can’t cap that hole that oil is going to destroy the oceans of the world. It only takes one quart of motor oil to make 250,000 gallons of ocean water toxic to wildlife. Are you starting to get the magnitude of this?"

Oh. My. God.

This is truly frightening.

--------------------------------------------------

Calm down people.

MOTOR OIL does not equal CRUDE OIL.

Crude oil, if you'll remember from your textbooks, is just the remains of dead dinosaurs and such from millions of years ago. Or if you want to get all scientific, Crude Oil is simply hydrogen and carbon...Hydrocarbons.

That is debatable. The abiotic theory of crude oil's origins is much more plausible, in my opinion. Per that theory, crude oil is created by wholly natural geologic processes within the earth.

I've read that a lake of oil was discovered on Saturn's moon, Titan, which is bigger than all of the Great Lakes, combined. Weren't no dinos there...

The dino theory, on the other hand, is simply speculation that caught on in the early days of oil exploration, and stuck as "accepted fact". Few challenged it then, and it's never been scientifically proven.

13 days now and Obama still hasn’t done anything.

I’m wondering about that as well. I’m even wondering whether we are hearing the REAL story regarding what happened in the first place.

It says there are 5 solution efforts ongoing — and my first thought was about cooks in the kitchen. btw: none of the 5 solutions posed involved burning... Here’s the link that was posted to me: http://www.nola.com/news/gulf-oil-spill/index.ssf/2010/05/teams_working_on_5_possible_so.html

I’ve heard the explanations about them drilling so deep, hence the pressure, but part of me wonders still wonders about sabotage or attack... THAT would make it MUCH, MUCH harder to contain the problem — if a hole were (for instance) bombed into the ocean floor and that’s why they can’t stop where it is coming from. A lot of conflicting stories out there/rumors. And several possible scenarios which would fit with the call for Homeland security in the area, along with SWAT teams and all.

This is certainly going to be a horrid disaster. Can’t imagine how bad it’s going to be... Don’t even want to contemplate that really.

Yes, and I remember all the doomsayers about how Y2K bug was going to destroy every electronic/computerized device. Guys with masters degrees in comp sci/math were harping all day long from the rooftops.

Engineers fix things. Sometimes that have to fix BIG things, like this. They will!

Not saying this isn’t serious, it is..but the end of the world is in God’s hands..NOT man!

Y2K could have created serious problems had it not been addressed ahead of time. It only blew over because of all the time, money, and effort spent to make sure Y2K didn’t happen. And that was only after spending an estimated $300 billion worldwide and years to work by software engineers and programmers.

Engineers can fix many things, but certain problems can’t be fixed instantly by simply throwing more money and manpower at them. These guys have to figure out how to cap a gushing well more than a mile underwater. I don’t have the foggiest idea of how they’re going to go about it. Good luck and godspeed.

“When the rig sank it flipped over and landed on top of the drill hole some 5,000 feet under the ocean.

Now they have got a hole in the ocean floor, 5,000 feet down with a wrecked oil drilling rig sitting on top of is spewing 200,000 barrels of oil a day into the ocean.”

statement above is incorrect.

See; http://alfin2100.blogspot.com/

I’ve seen more than one diagram indicating rig settled 1400’ away.

Upright.

Don’t worry, Obama flew down there today and got all the fingers pointed in the right direction.

Who will be the first reporter to ask obama, "Mr. 'president,' do you believe you acted too slowly responding to this ecological disaster?"

This Video shows federal officials knew quickly of potential for massive oil flow in Gulf spill...but then of course no one will be held to the slow response time.....cause it’s the Ones administration which we all know doesn’t have a double standard...LOL

First fact, the original estimate was about 5,000 gallons of oil a day spilling into the ocean. Now they’re saying 200,000 gallons a day

I read 5000 BARRELS a day, which equates to a bit over 200,000 gallons....first it was 1000 BARRELS a day, then went to 5000 BARRELS a day..this guy in bed with the MSM?

It’s simple: Just flick a lit match on the oil spill and let it burn.

Doesn’t matter. The mainstream media will always cover for Obama, simply because he’s an leftist African-American in a position of power.

It's way more extensive than that. The globalist elite-owned corporate media is covering for Obama because he is a globalist elite frontman demonically given the seat of power. They hand-picked and groomed him to become their loyal puppet, and look at today, he's been rewarded for his nation-destroying work.

They pull his strings because they own him lock, stock and barrel.
