Why?
He was screened like any other passenger.
Could he have crashed a plane that was still taxi-ing (sp?) with the cockpit doors locked?
The possible gain may have been deemed to be worth the increased risk.
As a desperate man with a demonstrated willingness to kill, he could have taken a hostage. Then he could have demanded anything.
I maintain that it was a huge error if this man was knowingly allowed on the plane.
