We’re talking about spoken language. You missed my point. For obammy’s mammy’s man, it would be a “return” to Kenya. Since mammy worshipped him, it’s probable that she chose language and phrasing that deferred to his status as “head” of the . It’s not all that complicated.

The general essence of a thought can be construed from a spoken statement, but in terms of the exact, precise meaning of each word or phrase chosen, forget it. You’re barking up the wrong tree. People just don’t speak that precisely.
