In Kingston, Jamaica drug gangs are engaged in armed battle with police to prevent the extradition of Christopher "Dudus" Coke to the United States for trial on drug and weapons trafficking charges, and two cops have been killed and six others wounded in the violence as reported by BBC News.
The BBC's Nick Davis in Montego Bay says the capital is a city under siege. * * * [T]he US Justice Department says Mr Coke is one of the world's most dangerous drug barons. He is accused of leading a gang called the Shower Posse - owing to the volume of bullets used in shootings - and operating an international smuggling network. He faces a life sentence if convicted on charges filed against him in New York. The gang has also been blamed for numerous murders in Jamaica and the US

Do you think Jamaica or Mexico will become a Narco State first?
Coming soon to a neighborhood near you? As the whole world seems to be circling the drain, aided and abetted by the kleptocracies posing as representative governments.
D.C.
lol.
That already happened I think, Marion Barry?
Good point. Perhaps, I was behind the curve in that prediction...
Jamaica? Drug use and smuggling? Noooooo that doesn’t sound right./
Enjoy.
Whats going to be weird is when the Mexican nation truly goes into open warfare. The Cartels are not backing down, so the Mexican government will soon be forced to fight, or be completely taken over.
When that happens, the illegal flood we have now will turn into a tidal wave. We have very bad things developing in our future, as we concentrate everywhere else in the world.
Our true war should be south of the border.
yes!
This is political too.
Coke's stronghold is Tivoli Gardens in Kingston and also the JLP’s street thug headquarters
Golding the PM who wants to send Coke to the US is betraying someone who gave him muscle before with his famed Shower Posse.
My old stomping grounds...looks like it's spreading
JLP is sorta right wing by Jamaican standards and often supports mulatto candidates or even Arab Christian like Eddie Seaga.
PNP is leftist and pushes some mulattoes like Manley but often more Africanist communist types.
that is what this is about...Golding is throwing Coke under the bus
Coke would do well to examine the Pablo Escobar lesson in what happens when drug lords declare war on a sovereign nation...maybe he will be the exception. Another bet....US Spec Ops are there helping out JDF....any takers on that one?
Actually they don't. But why let a few facts get in the way.
it’s essentially legal. it’s the same level of tolerance pro-dopers want in the US.
Doesn’t Jamaica have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world? I remember reading many years ago that possession of even a single .22 rimfire cartridge could land you in jail for some serious time.
Actually, it's not.
And even if it were so what? Jamaica is a sovereign Nation last time I checked. They're free to make whatever laws they wish.
The source of their problems is here in the US and Canada. But the drug 'warriors' wanted a bunch of modern day Al Capone's. Now they act all shocked when they get them.
It's not like this has never happened before. It's just a whole lot of people are way to dense to learn the lessons of history.
“Actually, it’s not.”
Yes it is essentially legal! I have friends that go there regularly. It **IS** essentially legal.
“And even if it were so what?”
So this is the result!
“The source of their problems is here in the US and Canada.”
Blaming America for another country’s problems? On FR?
“a whole lot of people are way to[o] dense”
Thinking you’re smarter than everyone else: one of the first signs of sociopathy. Which, funnily enough, is often brought on by drug use.
So if the answer to crime is to amnestize it, why not amnestize crack? Why not amnestize the “undocumented workers”?
Yeah, and chicago has the worst gun laws in America. Outside of FR, the brick walls are listening attentively to your insightful comments.
I go there, too. A couple of times a year when we can afford it. It's not 'essentially' legal. While your pals can smoke whatever they want on the resort, try it on the streets of Kingston town and they'll get an education on Jamaican drug laws quite quickly.
Blaming America for another countrys problems? On FR?
Yeppers. The American appetite for pot, especially premium Jamaican pot, is insatiable. That creates what's known as a 'black market'. Maybe you've heard of it. Now black markets are usually run by criminal gangs. Maybe you've heard of them, too.
So the solution is, and once again we've actually tried this little experiment in the US so we know it's true, is to legalize the substance in question subject to reasonable regulations.
The black market disappears, and the criminal gangs stand around with their thumbs up their butts.
Got it?
Thinking youre smarter than everyone else: one of the first signs of sociopathy.
Unless of course one is smarter, which I am. Quite obviously in this particular case.
Time for him to read “Killing Pablo” by Mark “Blackhawk Down” Bowden.
