I’ve been a Beach Boys fan all my life. The last time they were in the area, a friend asked if I was going to see them. My answer was “I don’t know what this group is, but if there isn’t a Wilson brother on stage, as far as I’m concerned, it isn’t the Beach Boys - it’s Mike Love’s travelling oldies show.”

I couldn’t agree more. Nothing against Mike, but to call a group of unknown musicians the BeachBoys simply because he’s the front man? It’s a sham and I refuse to see that act. It’s not the Beach Boys. Not even close. But they still do well on the road, but primarily the audiences are made up of folks too young to know the difference... they just like the songs. And that’s fine with me. Just don’t ask me to go. I’ll let you in on a little secret: Carl and Denny were friends of mine. Without them, there’s NO Beach Boys.
