I believe I have a set that is in the 300Mhz range and 900 Mhz. I would guess there older sets that run 700 Mhz.
There are some, but most are sold in the sub-700MHz range.
Article is fodder for the perpetually pissed-off. lol
Several times the FCC has mandated changes to radio or television that turned a very expensive item into a shelf curiosity without compensation. It resembles eminent domain.
Once legal firearms have been turned overnight into banned instruments of evillll. And the list goes on.
Exceptions will be Reverend Wright and Father Pfeger?
Does this apply to TV shows, and/or live bands? Probably so if they are in the 700 MHZ band.
700mHz is a HOLY NUMBER and THIS WILL DESTROY RELIGION IN AMERICA!!!!
And it will be applied to rock and rap concerts too, right?
Basically the FCC wants to resell this broadcast spectrum. While they talk of "public safety", police departments are moving towards wireless reporting of parking fines. More money, more money, more money.
For heaven’s sake, this is not a government conspiracy

That’s right. It’s just a re-farming of the 700 mHz allocation from TV to Public Service. Certain low power devices had been authorized to operate in the 700 mHz region on a non-interference basis. Unused TV channels were used. This is no longer desirable as interference to police radios is more serious than having your signal be heard on someone’s TV set.
This is not a case of government wanting to mess with religion or anyone, but rather a desire to make the best use of limited spectrum.
All TV is now digital and even before digital TV, UHF bandwidth only extended to 698MHz, so it was never a problem.
It’s not just preachers- ALL 700 MHz mics are obsolete and banned. Several music websites offered trade-in specials months ago, send in your old mic, get a new one in the correct band.
Touting this as focusing on clergy is misleading, satanic heavy-metal bands are part of the ban too. And carny barkers.
My BS detector has gone off the charts.
First off all, this is some blogger doing the usual FR blog-pimp routine. And making outrageous claims. And typically many FReeprs have already gotten their panties all bunched up.
Does anyone ever think for themselvs anymore?
My wireless operates on three channels - 734.600 MHz, 736.025 MHz, and 736.975 MHz. I’m not a preacher but rather a square dance caller.
698 mHz is the top end of the current UHF TV spectrum (channel 51). The old channels 52-69 are the ones being reassigned on June 12th.
It isn’t strictly for public safety. It’s for resale as well.
We’ll move to digital radio too someday to also free up some frequencies for resale.
And then we’ll all be SOOL when a hurricane comes because digital receivers suck in particularly nasty weather.
“For heaven’s sake, this is not a government conspiracy”
I heard that mosques are exempt, and BP, along with Nancy Pelosi.
Also, these microphones may interfere with the telepathic download speeds from the Comet McNaught, as such, they cannot be allowed.
