I’ve often wondered about the outcomes of the study. I’m confused, though, at the early date, 1970, associated with the conclusions, as it was often being cited at least through 1990.

I wish I'd had this information when I was writing my book SCIENCE FUNDING: POLITICS AND PORKBARREL. I concluded that Federal funding had corrupted the American scientific enterprise. Probably not surprising. Federal funding seems to corrupt everything else.
