The Duke Lacrosse Hoax, the New Black Panthers Story and Newsweek’s Boy Reporter, David A. Graham
Big Journalism ^ | 7/26/10 | Ken Larrey

Newsweek commentator David Graham recently declared the Philadelphia Voter Intimidation controversy to be a non-story: “it’s not about a real investigation; it’s about staging an effective piece of political theater that hurts the Obama administration.” He also meandered into the assertion that the ACORN scandal was “minimal” and “discredited.” Graham’s career-long track record of suppressing news (without troubling himself with investigation) follows him way, way back to his college years at Duke University. Why bring up such ancient history? Well, because he graduated from Duke last year, in 2009.

Apparently this production was carried out with unpaid volunteer actors who buried themselves in their parts, even going so far as to conduct on-camera interviews in character.

Well, we know all about the standards of honesty and ethics that don’t prevail at Duke.

he story was quickly becoming a story of the extraordinary bigotry of segments of the far left and their perverse willingness to exploit an obvious hoax to advance a political and cultural agenda. The story became the willingness of the Duke Faculty and Administration to burn their own students at the stake in the advancement of, and in fear of, this same leftist narrative.

Their agenda also includes protecting profit.

I’m pleased to see that the article mentions one of Graham’s most despicable acts - outing John in Carolina.

What a little prick.

So this clown is hired for a significant position at a national newsmagazine, and then given a high-profile story to cover, with exactly zero professional experience?

Does this situation strike anyone else as really odd? How does a nobody fresh out of college get a job at that level without at least some reasonable amount of time working his way through the food chain?

Seems to me the most logical explanation is that he was the school paper buttboy (figuratively speaking) for somebody in Duke’s administration, and his reward upon graduation was to cash in that connection with some inside influence in getting a job at Newspeak (or whatever the hell that rag calls itself).
