Lots of short sells popping up around New Hampshire lately...more to do with the astronomical property taxes than anything else. I've been to northern Idaho a few times, but can't get my wife to make the long-distance jump. She hates it here, though...even though she was born in NH.
Take her on a trip through the southern tier of NY state. Some nice country here, reliably red, but outvoted by the urbs.
If taxes are a concern, be a snowbird.
