To: 17th Miss Regt

I was raised in Athens and went to MCHS Class of ‘64.
My uncle, AC Huber owned the infamous “Robert E. Lee” Hotel and a laundry by the same name.

The history of that battle is most interesting... Local political thugs against returning WWII battle hardened veterans. Not hard to figure out how that went.

Most of my family are from Sweetwater and Knoxville. My great great grandfather from Knoxville married a gal from Sweetwater. He joined the 3rd Tennessee Cavalry (Lillards).

My fathers first name Owen was from my great great grandmothers family name. Mr. Owen was one of the early settlers in Sweetwater migrating from Pennsylvania.

His house in Sweetwater is listed in the national register of historic homes.
